Vishal Jugdeo

(b. 1979 Regina, Canada) is a multidisciplinary artist. His work across video, installation, performance, sculpture and text experiments with narrative, blurring fiction and truth. His recent artworks emerge from amassments of intimately gathered video and sound--archive oceans--which chart the ebbs and flows of his friendships with interlocutors. These archives often hold stories of everyday resistance, glimpsed through a lens that is both queer and diasporic. Recent screenings and exhibitions have occurred at Portland Institute of Contemporary Art, Museum of Modern Art, New York, ICA, Los Angeles, CCA Berlin, Cinema Akil, Dubai, and Commonwealth and Council Gallery in LA. Jugdeo is associate professor at UCLA, where he serves as New Genres area head in the Department of Art.
